Meru National Park fulfills all your dreams of an African safari paradise!

The park, established in 1966, is located approximately 100 km northeast of the Mount Kenya massif at an altitude of 300-940 m above sea level.

The landscape flattens from the hilly, wetter northwest to the east into savanna areas. Inselbergs break up the overall picture of red earth, winding natural paths and wide grassy plains. Further to the east there is acacia bushland, in the south there are long-threaded grass areas.

The area of ​​Meru National Park is crossed by numerous, constantly flowing narrow rivers, which rise in the volcanic Nyambene Mountains, 20 km away.

The park is bordered by the Rojeweru River to the east, Tana River to the south and Ura River to the southwest.

George and Joy Adamson, among others, once worked here with their legendary lioness Elsa, whose life was filmed in “Born Free”. Meru became known through the BBC documentary “Genesis Project” about reconstruction through large-scale animal resettlement measures.

Today this national park is one of the most species-rich wildlife areas in Kenya. Grevy's zebras, reticulated giraffes, Erithrea gemsbok, Grant's gazelles, Kirk's dik-diks, Kongonis, the shy lesser kudu, impala, waterbuck, eland, hippos and crocodiles on the rivers as well as herds of buffalo delight the safari heart.

The special appeal of game drives is that there is no major tourism here and the wild animals are not used to vehicles and therefore show their natural behavior. Large herds of elephants protectively surround their young animals and emit their trumpet-like warning calls. The animals are shy. Pure Adrenaline!

To the east is the Bisanadi Reserve, together both parks form a large ecosystem.
